Transfer Rumours: Endrick battle begins as Man Utd make 'strong move' for new midfielder
The final week of the 2026 January transfer window is here, meaning negotiations over last-minute deals are beginning to ramp up.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 27 January, including the latest updates on Endrick and Adam Wharton.
Chelsea chase Endrick
Chelsea are reportedly plotting an €80 million move for Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick, who is currently excelling on loan at Olympique Lyonnais.
Liam Rosenior’s side have already finalised agreements for Emmanuel Emegha and Dastan Satpaev to join the club this summer, however rumours suggest they remain eager to land another young forward if the opportunity arises.
However, the Blues have now “set their sights” on completing a blockbuster deal for Endrick, according to a sensational report from Fichajes.
Man Utd make “strong move” for Adam Wharton
Manchester United are making a "strong push" for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, according to TEAMtalk.
The Red Devils reportedly view Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson as their top target for the midfield, but recent reports have increasingly suggested that the England international is favouring a move to rivals Manchester City.
As a result, they are now working to convince Wharton of a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Martin Odegaard linked with Arsenal exit
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is reportedly weighing up his long-term future at the club, with Mikel Arteta’s side open to offers this summer.
The Norway international has been an integral player for the Gunners since his arrival in 2021, but he could be set to depart the Emirates Stadium later this year, with both Bayern Munich and Inter Milan monitoring his situation.
That is according to transfer reporter IndyKaila, who claims that Odegaard is exploring his options ahead of a possible departure during the 2026 summer transfer window.
Julian Alvarez update
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly plotting an official offer for Julian Alvarez as they look to land the Atletico Madrid striker this summer.
Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea are all keeping close tabs on the Argentina international’s situation, but PSG are ready to go “all-in” to finalise a deal for the 25-year-old, as per Spanish publication Fichajes.
It’s reported that PSG will offer Atletico Madrid a fixed transfer fee of €50 million for Alvarez, in addition to Goncalo Ramos and Kang-in Lee.
Aston Villa plot Douglas Luiz deal
Aston Villa are reportedly in “active talks” to re-sign Douglas Luiz as they look to hijack his proposed winter move to Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano on X.
The former Villa star has been sounded out as a possible late winter signing as Unai Emery looks to land a new midfielder this week following injuries to John McGinn, Youri Tielemans and Boubacar Kamara.
Chelsea are also eager to sign Luiz, although they want a straight loan deal without the possibility of a transfer transfer.
