The January transfer window is in full swing and a number of major deals are likely to be finalised over the next week.

Arsenal chase defensive double deal

Arsenal are set to pursue moves for Nathaniel Brown (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Ousmane Diomande (Sporting CP) this year, as per CaughtOffside.

The Gunners are on the verge of missing out on Marc Guehi to Manchester City and they have now switched their attention to bolstering Mikel Arteta’s squad with the additions of Brown and Diomande.

It’s claimed that Arsenal could spend just shy of €140m on the pair, with the north London giants once again eager to improve their defensive options.

Chelsea agree Jeremy Jacquet terms

Chelsea have reached a full agreement on personal terms with Stade Rennais defender Jeremy Jacquet as they close in on a deal for the 20-year-old.

Liam Rosenior’s side have ramped up their pursuit of a new centre-back over the past few days and they have opted to finalise terms with Jacquet after initially shortlisting Jacobo Ramon (Como) and Marcos Senesi (Bournemouth) as alternative options.

The France U21 international is regarded as one of the best young defenders in European football and Chelsea look set to win the race for his signature before the end of the January transfer window, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Man Utd ‘submit’ Ruben Neves bid

Manchester United have submitted a “formal offer” to sign Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves this month.

That is according to a shock report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, who claim that a €23m bid has been lodged by the Man Utd hierarchy as they look to tempt Al-Hilal into a winter sale.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers star will be available on a Bosman deal this summer, however it’s reported that Man Utd want to complete a deal before the end of the January transfer window in order to secure Neves’ signature.

Alessandro Bastoni wants Liverpool switch

Inter centre-back Alessandro Bastoni is keen to join Liverpool, who should be desperately scrambling to sign a new defender after missing out on Marc Guehi.

According to TEAMtalk, the 26-year-old is said to be interested in heading abroad and Liverpool is his preferred destination.

However, a move in January appears to be out of the question. A transfer in the summer will also be difficult to pull off as it is claimed that Inter would demand a "mammoth" fee for him.

Man Utd eye Pierre Kalulu

Manchester United are locked in a major transfer battle for Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu, as per Italian publication Calciomercato

While Man Utd are unlikely to appoint a permanent manager until this summer, they have already identified Kalulu as a possible target ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The Frenchman has starred since joining Juventus from AC Milan and it’s claimed that Aston Villa, Man Utd and Tottenham Hotspur are all eyeing a move for the defender amid his impressive recent form in Turin.
