Rangers make 'mega offer' for their next star striker
Rangers have made a €3 million bid for Hansa Rostock striker Ryan Naderi, according to German media.
The Gers are looking to end the January transfer window with a bang. Having completed the signings of Tochi Chukwuani, Tuur Rommens and Andreas Skov Olsen, Rangers are now looking to bring in a new centre-forward.
To that end, they have made a hefty bid for German third-tier sensation Ryan Naderi, according to Sky Germany. The Hansa Rostock striker is enjoying a brilliant season and is believed to be keen on making the move to Ibrox.
Rangers have put €3m on the table, which is quite an outrageous fee by 3. Liga standards. It would make the 22-year-old the division's fourth-most-expensive sale ever.
Due to his exploits this season, Naderi has also fielded interest from various other suitors from across Germany and Europe. There have even been tentative links with some Bundesliga clubs, but Rangers look well-placed to win the race for his signature.
Rohl connection aids Rangers' striker search
Discussions between Hansa and Rangers are in full swing. Ultimately, it will come down to whether or not the promotion-chasing side are ready to sell their star striker this late in the window.
Should Rangers manage to seal this deal, the Danny Rohl connection will likely have proved crucial. The 36-year-old's expertise and knowledge of the German lower leagues could help the Glasgow giants find some real value.
Naderi was born in Dresden and came through the academy of local giants Dynamo. There is a close fan friendship between Dynamo and Rohl's hometown club, FSV Zwickau. A 90-minute drive separates the two cities.
After a stint in the youth academy of Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach, Naderi joined Rostock in the summer of 2024. He scored five goals in his first season of professional football, a tally he has already bettered this term.
Naderi has notched eight goals and provided five assists in 17 appearances in the German third tier this season. He produced a wonderful assist in Rostock's 4-0 thrashing of Waldhof Mannheim on Sunday, which nicely illustrated that he is more than just a target man.
Mannheim defender Oluwaseun Ogbemudia attempted to let a through ball run out for a goal kick, but Naderi managed to run past him and keep the ball in play. He then created space for himself with a smart flick and crossed the ball to Andreas Voglsammer, who converted.
Standing at 6ft 4in, Naderi has the physique of a battering ram, but he is a very modern striker. He is excellent with the ball at his feet, reasonably quick for his size and smart with his movement and finishing.
He is a hugely promising talent, and it will be interesting to see how he handles the step up should he complete his transfer to Rangers.
