Chelsea boss Rosenior confirms transfer talks with two players
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed that he will hold transfer talks with two players with the aim of completing deals before the transfer window shuts.
Both Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi appear earmarked for the exit by the new Blues boss, whose first major challenge is to trim the sizeable squad of players at Stamford Bridge.
Sterling and Disasi have been exiled from Chelsea’s first team, with the previous regime making it clear that both are up for sale.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s League Cup semi-final against Arsenal, Rosenior indicated that he has yet to hold talks with the players but hinted a definitive decision over both will be taken before the end of the month.
“I will have conversations with them. We’re in January, as you know,” he told the media.
“Raheem’s had an outstanding career. I’ve got huge respect for him. Axel is someone I’ve really, really liked as a player for a long time.
“Honestly, I have to have a conversation with them. I have to have a conversation with the club. I’m being genuinely honest. I literally have got to work through a list of priorities. I will do in the next few days.”
Chelsea want to sign three players
Chelsea, meanwhile, are not ruling out the possibility of January signings, with The Athletic confirming that the club is in the market to add three players to Rosenior’s squad.
“Chelsea also want to buy a midfielder and a defender. They have players in mind, and if they can bring forward their plans to recruit them now, instead of in the close-season, the club will do so,” the report claims.
The West Londoners are happy to wait until the summer to do these deals if the right players are not available now.
It adds that the Blues made a move for Antoine Semenyo at the end of last month, indicating that they are in the market for a wide attacker.
To that end, Chelsea have also been in contact with the agent of Feyenoord star Anis Hadj Moussa, suggesting they could make a move for the Algeria star if the terms are right.
