Manchester United are seriously considering selling Bruno Fernandes amid continued interest from Saudi giants Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, according to a report.

The Red Devils captain has been fielding offers from the Saudi Pro League on an annual basis since the summer of 2023. This year, no fewer than three Saudi clubs approached Fernandes over a transfer.

However, Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim wanted his compatriot to stay, and Fernandes wasn't desperate to leave either. He rebuffed Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad to remain at Old Trafford for another season.

Heading into 2026, uncertainty once again looms over the attacking midfielder. According to CaughtOffside, it is likely that Man Utd will consider cashing in on the 31-year-old next year.

Given his age and the potential money on offer from Saudi Arabia, Man Utd are ready to soften their stance on a potential departure, particularly due to their desire to sign big-name midfielders in 2026.

Fernandes to be sacrificed

The likes of Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson are among the club's top targets, but they won't come cheap. Ideally, Man Utd would sign two or three new midfielders, which means that funds need to be freed up.

It is claimed that Man Utd would be willing to talk if a fee of around €80 million were to be offered for Fernandes. Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad remain interested in the Portugal international, and bids are "expected" to materialise.

The former are planning to go big in 2026 and are also eyeing Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah, while the latter are likely to lose Karim Benzema in the summer, freeing up a foreign spot.

Fernandes signed a new contract until 2027 last year. This means that 2026 could be the final chance to get a fee for the veteran. However, the captain has insisted that he will not think about his future until after the World Cup, so there will be no imminent decision.
