Chelsea have been extremely active in the transfer market over the past few years, but they have been tipped to keep their power relatively dry in regards to January incomings.

However, the Blues are likely to sanction several departures, with the club eager to trim down the first-team squad currently at Enzo Maresca’s disposal.

Below, FootballTransfers runs through five players who could leave Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Tyrique George

Tyrique George was on the verge of completing a move to Fulham on Transfer Deadline Day this summer, but the move collapsed when Marco Silva’s side opted to finalise a club record deal for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Kevin instead.

The England U21 international featured fairly regularly for Chelsea during the opening few weeks of the season, but he has only made one Premier League appearance since September and he is now ready to leave the Blues in January.

Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Southampton and Strasbourg have all been linked with a mid-season move for the forward and it’s believed that Chelsea will allow him to depart on a permanent deal.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling was immediately placed in Chelsea’s ‘Bomb Squad’ following the appointment of Maresca last summer and he eventually joined Arsenal on a season-long loan deal in August 2024.

After failing to make an impact with the Gunners, Sterling returned to Chelsea this summer and he rejected numerous opportunities to leave the club due to his desire to remain in London.

The ex-England international still has 18 months remaining on his contract at Chelsea, but his last appearance for the club came back in May 2024 and he has been tipped to leave in January after spending the entire season so far training away from the Blues first-team.

Axel Disasi

Axel Disasi is also a current member of Chelsea’s ‘Bomb Squad’, although he has featured for the Blues’ U21 side on two occasions in recent weeks after impressing club officials with his attitude in training.

The Frenchman was banished from the first-team following a poor performance against Ipswich Town last December and he spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.

Several proposed transfers failed to materialise over the summer and Disasi is set to be sold in January amid interest from the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle and West Ham. However, it is Lyon who are currently leading the race for his signature.

Filip Jorgensen

Filip Jorgensen has played second-fiddle to Robert Sanchez since his arrival from Villarreal last summer and he is now eager to leave Chelsea in January, as per multiple reports.

The Denmark international has only featured on four occasions so far this season and he wants to depart Stamford Bridge in order to bolster his chances of becoming his nation’s starting goalkeeper at the World Cup next summer.

Chelsea are, however, reluctant to sanction a sale and any interested party will therefore be required to lodge a fairly substantial bid.

Mykhailo Mudryk

Mykhailo Mudryk hasn’t played for Chelsea since scoring in a 2-0 win over Heidenheim last November, with the Ukraine international suspended from all football activity after a positive drugs test.

He has received a provisional four-year ban, meaning he may be unable to play again until December 2028, although French publication Foot Mercato state that his suspension may be lifted next month.

This would allow Mudryk to return to action for the second half of the 2025-26 season and several clubs have been linked with a move, including Sevilla and Strasbourg.
