What next for banned Chelsea star? Rare Mudryk update amid career change rumours
Forgotten Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk is still waiting for a ruling on his doping charges, a year after playing his last game.
The Ukraine international is still in limbo over his future, even though it has now been 12 months since his alleged doping offence came to light. In June, the FA officially charged Mudryk, but an outcome has yet to be announced.
Since then, there has been radio silence. The 24-year-old has yet to receive an official punishment and is still facing the prospect of a ban of up to four years.
He is still under contract at Chelsea until 2031, so his future is somewhat secure in that regard, but it must be difficult for the winger to remain completely in the dark over his fate.
According to the Daily Mail, there is no indication of when Mudryk will receive his punishment. The matter is described as a 'painfully slow process' and shrouded in secrecy.
Mudryk won't compete at the Olympics
Because of this secrecy and the lack of credible updates, rumours surrounding Mudryk have been rampant. For example, it has been suggested that he could consider competing at the 2028 Olympics for Ukraine's track team. However, this is fake news, according to the report.
Instead, Mudryk is fully focused on his return to the pitch, whenever that may come. He is working with an external trainer to stay in shape and is receiving what limited support Chelsea are allowed to give him.
Mudryk has used his downtime to contribute to a film about his former club Shakhtar Donetsk and the war in Ukraine, but public appearances have been few and far between.
The Chelsea star attended the club's Conference League final, which caught head coach Enzo Maresca by surprise, and picked up a winners' medal after featuring in the earlier rounds. However, he is not allowed to even enter the club's Cobham training ground.
For now, Mudryk remains completely in the dark about his future.
