The Red Devils completed the signings of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Senne Lammens and Diego Leon during the 2025 summer transfer window, but they are eager to add additional reinforcements next year in a bid to compete for major honours once again.

INEOS have identified central midfield as a key area in need of improvement and the Man Utd hierarchy have earmarked Premier League trio Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba as top targets ahead of 2026.

However, transfer funds will need to be raised via player departures and The Sun now claim that 11 current Man Utd stars could be sold next summer in order to afford another rebuild.

The report states that Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia and Altay Bayindir may be sold by the Red Devils, while Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, who are all out on loan for the 2025-26 season, are also likely to be offloaded permanently.

Furthermore, Casemiro is expected to depart the club on a Bosman deal next summer, despite reports suggesting that he could be offered a contract extension amid his impressive recent form.

It’s claimed that Man Utd will save over €2.3m per week in wages if they are able to offload those 11 players next summer.

Man Utd’s transfer plans

Man Utd have been linked with dipping into the market in January, although ESPN report that Amorim’s side are likely to leave the vast majority of their planned business until the summer window unless something major changes.

In addition to bolstering their options in central midfield, ESPN have also revealed that Man Utd are determined to sign a new wing-back in 2026, while it’s understood that a new striker will be targeted if the aforementioned Zirkzee departs.

The Netherlands international wants to leave during the upcoming winter window, amid his lack of game time this term, and he has already accepted a loan proposal from AS Roma.

However, Man Utd are reluctant to sanction a mid-season exit, especially as summer signing Sesko is currently injured.
