Caicedo, 24, has enjoyed a sublime start to the new Premier League season and he has been widely labelled as the best midfielder in world football based on current form.

The Ecuador superstar’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) now stands at a career high of €114.1 million - the 11th highest of any player in the world - and he produced yet another eye-catching performance during Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

The 24-year-old has, rather unsurprisingly, emerged as a target for Real Madrid in recent weeks, with multiple outlets confirming that Xabi Alonso’s side are keeping close tabs on his situation at Stamford Bridge.

However, Caicedo still has over five-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract at Chelsea and football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Real Madrid are yet to lodge a concrete approach to sign the Ecuador star.

Furthermore, Chelsea are expected to intensify talks to extend his deal in west London before the end of the 2025.

Enzo Fernandez delivers Moises Caicedo verdict

Following Caicedo’s performance versus Spurs, team-mate Fernandez was eager to praise his midfield partner and issue his verdict on whether Chelsea should sanction a sale to Real Madrid.

“As I always say, honestly, there are only words of admiration for him,” Fernandez told the official Chelsea club website.

“He’s a very humble, hard-working guy, who always gives his all for the team every day. I'm very happy to have him at Chelsea; he's a machine. I hope it continues like this.”

Fernandez has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout 2025, although he appears extremely settled in west London and a departure is unlikely to take place.

As a result, Los Blancos are expected to instead ramp up their pursuit of alternative targets such as Vitinha, Adam Wharton, Alexis Mac Allister and Angelo Stiller ahead of the January transfer window.
