Bodo/Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen is keen to take the vacant Celtic job, but only on one specific condition, according to a report.

The Hoops are looking for a new head coach following Brendan Rodgers' rancorous resignation after a 3-1 loss to table-topping Hearts. Although Celtic had been succession planning, his exit nevertheless took them by surprise.

That is why they have yet to find a suitable replacement, with 73-year-old Martin O'Neill currently in interim charge. The idea is to announce a new head coach during the upcoming international break.

Following an Old Firm victory over Rangers last weekend, reports emerged that O'Neill could be given the job until the end of the season, but this talk has gone quiet after a 3-1 mid-week loss to Midtjylland in the Europa League.

However, O'Neill may stay in his role beyond the international break after all because one of Celtic's preferred options to fill the vacancy is not willing to make the move immediately.

Knutsen wants to see out Champions League run

The man in question is Bodo/Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen, whose side is competing in the Champions League and still fighting for the Norwegian title domestically.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the Norwegian tactician would be keen on taking the Celtic job, but he wants to see out Bodo/Glimt's Champions League campaign before moving to Glasgow.

Defending Eliteserien champions Bodo/Glimt are currently one point off league leaders Viking with three games left to play in the season. In the Champions League, they sit 29th in the league phase table after failing to win any of their first four games.

However, their good performance in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham showed that they can make life difficult for bigger sides. They are only two points off Napoli in the final playoff spot.

Intriguingly, Knutsen's contract expires at the turn of the year, so if Bodo/Glimt are still in contention for qualification after their games with Juventus and Dortmund in December, he would have to agree an extension.
