Arsenal make decision on selling Martin Odegaard to Barcelona
Arsenal have made it clear to Barcelona that they have no intention of selling Martin Odegaard.
There have been reports in recent weeks that the Blaugrana are lining up a big move for Odegaard at the end of the season.
Renowned X account IndyKaila posted on social media: “FC Barcelona have added Martin Odegaard to their shortlist.
“We understand Barcelona believes the player is ready for a major career change. The Spanish club will make their move in June.”
Arsenal reject Barcelona move for Odegaard
However, Fichajes reports this week that Arsenal have slammed the door shut on any potential sale of Odegaard.
They see their captain as untouchable and a key part of their project going forward.
The Norway international has been plagued by several injury issues so far this campaign and he has only been able to make seven appearances since the beginning of 2025-26 as a result.
Odegaard has not played for a month and Norway manager Ståle Solbakken has no idea when he will be fit again as he confirmed he will not play for his nation this month.
“It is an injury. You have to call Arsenal about that," Solbakken said.
"He is well on his way in his rehab, but when he will be ready, neither he, Arsenal nor we know, as of now."
Despite these injury problems, Odegaard remains one of Arsenal’s most important players and they have no intention of selling.
The Norway superstar will have two years remaining on his current Arsenal contract when the 2026 summer transfer window opens but it seems as if the Gunners want to extend his stay.
Odegaard spent six years at Barcelona’s fierce-rivals Real Madrid before moving to Arsenal in 2021, although he failed to establish himself as a regular at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite his reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting youngsters.
In total, the Norwegian made just 11 first-team appearances for Los Blancos during his time at the club, while he was sent on four separate loan spells to Heerenveen, Vitesse Arnhem, Real Sociedad and Arsenal.
The 26-year-old impressed during his temporary spell at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal paid €35m to make the deal permanent in August 2021.
Since arriving in north London, Odegaard has emerged as one of the best players in the Premier League and he has already played over 200 times for the Gunners.
