The five best Premier League summer signings so far
The Premier League cemented its place as the undisputed financial behemoth of European football by spending over €3 billion (£2.6bn) on signings in the summer.
That was more than the other 'top-five leagues' racked up combined. Some of the most expensive arrivals, like Florian Wirtz at Liverpool, have so far failed to live up to their price tags.
However, plenty of others have hit the ground running and are already indispensable parts of their new teams. Below, FootballTransfers ranks the best signings of the summer so far...
Nick Woltemade - Stuttgart to Newcastle - €75m - (£65m)
Germany international Nick Woltemade has not been the best new signing in the Premier League, but he is the most expensive of the five players selected here (spoiler alert).
His exact fee has been the subject of debate, with reports ranging from €75 million to €95m. What isn't disputable is that the 23-year-old forward is Newcastle's new record signing, with many viewing his cost as a significant overpay.
The relatively inexperienced striker would have been forgiven for crumbling under the pressure of his fee and the task of replacing Alexander Isak, but there has been nothing of the sort.
Woltemade has looked carefree and has already notched four goals for the Magpies. While he hasn't set the world alight with his trademark dribbles and combination play yet, the lanky attacker has done what is expected of him: scoring goals.
Martin Zubimendi - Real Sociedad to Arsenal - €70m (£60.6m)
Several years after Arsenal initially began courting him, Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi finally made the move to North London this summer, joining in a €70 million deal.
A European champion with Spain in 2024, the Basque arrived with big expectations as many felt his presence could unshackle Declan Rice and allow him to contribute more going forward.
This is exactly what Zubimendi has done. Far from the most flashy player - although he netted an uncharacteristic brace against Nottingham Forest - the 26-year-old has been just what Arsenal needed.
Zubimendi has given the Gunners balance and control in midfield at a time when they perhaps require it most, given that Mikel Arteta constantly has to change his engine room due to Martin Odegaard's injury problems. He has hardly put a foot wrong so far.
Mohammed Kudus - West Ham to Tottenham - €63.8m (£55.3m)
Mohammed Kudus was hugely impressive in his first season at West Ham, but he suffered a significant drop-off in his second term. An exit from the Hammers looked inevitable for some time as a result.
Tottenham snapped him up by paying his €63.8m release clause, and the move across London has done the Ghana international a world of good. Kudus has been one of the most dangerous attackers in the Premier League so far.
He is currently joint-top of the division's assist charts, and he netted his first goal for Spurs against Leeds at the weekend.
Joao Pedro - Brighton to Chelsea - €63.7m (£55.2m)
Joao Pedro followed the well-trodden path leading from Brighton to Stamford Bridge due to his desire to return to London, where he had previously lived during his time at Watford.
He joined Chelsea in a €63.7m deal and proved an immediate hit. He linked up with the Blues during the Club World Cup and scored three goals in three games as they won the trophy.
The Brazilian continued his good form in the opening games of the new season, netting twice and providing three assists. Although he has now gone a few matches without contributing to goals, it would be harsh to overlook him.
Jack Grealish - Man City to Everton (Loan)
Jack Grealish's career renaissance at Everton has been one of the feel-good stories of this nascent season. Despite only joining the Toffees on loan, there was plenty of risk attached to this deal.
The 30-year-old was on a huge wage at Man City, making the move expensive for Everton, while Grealish himself had to find the right club to keep his hopes of making next year's World Cup squad alive. It is fair to say that the two are a match made in heaven.
An instant fan favourite, the England star tops the Premier League's assist charts alongside Kudus with four and his goal at the weekend - his first for the Merseyside club - ended Crystal Palace's historic unbeaten run.
Honourable mentions have to go to Granit Xhaka at Sunderland, Hugo Ekitike at Liverpool, Estevao at Chelsea and Adrien Truffert at Bournemouth.
