Manchester United are getting ready to make a move for Karl Etta Eyong, the young Levante striker who has established himself as one of Europe’s brightest young talents.

Etta Eyong has made a spectacular start to the season in Spain. He began the campaign with Villarreal, scoring one in three games before completing a €3 million (£2.62m) switch to Levante, where he has taken his game to a new level.

Having previously been a largely unheralded striker, the 21-year-old Cameroon international has scored four goals in five games with his new club, even netting against Real Madrid. This form has marked a sharp rise in his status. He is now recognised as one of the most exciting forwards in Europe.

Ette Eyong move launched

According to Sport, Man Utd have “bid hard” for the young forward, having already initiated contact with the striker.

Etta Eyong could prove to be a bargain transfer, too. While Levante, who share the economic rights of the player with Villarreal, are hopeful that a €30m (£26.17m) bid arrives. The Spanish report indicates that he could go for considerably less than that.

“The peculiarities of his transfer contract make a sale practically certain if a bid of €15m (£13.09m) arrives,” Sport says.

A complicated deal

Unfortunately for Man Utd, signing Etta Eyong will not simply be a case of tabling a modest bid to Levante.

Other clubs are monitoring the attacker, with Barcelona quick to take an interest as they seek centre-forward options with the future of Robert Lewandowski uncertain.

And the Camp Nou side seem to hold the aces in this case, having considered a move this summer.

“Etta Eyong is prioritising a stay in Spain and wants to play for Barcelona. He said this when the parties were talking this summer, but finally the Blaugrana rejected the possibility of paying his €10m (£8.72m) release clause because they had no space within their salary limit. There was no relationship, but a good relationship was forged that may bear fruit in the future,” Sport claims.

With Etta Eyong having already played for two clubs this season, no deal is possible in January, but Man Utd and Barcelona will continue to monitor this situation with interest ahead of summer 2026.
