'He has got everything!' - Chelsea's Estevao receives Lamine Yamal comparison
Former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet reckons that Estevao Willian “has got everything” following his stoppage time winner against Liverpool on Saturday evening.
The 18-year-old netted his first Chelsea goal in the 95th minute to secure a 2-1 victory for Enzo Maresca’s side, and he has received a plethora of praise following his match-winning impact off the substitutes bench.
Estevao has already established himself as a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge, following his arrival from Palmeiras in July, and he became the youngest ever player to register a Premier League assist for the Blues during their 5-1 victory over West Ham United in August.
The Brazil international was frequently dubbed ‘the next Lionel Messi’ after his emergence onto the senior stage with Palmeiras, even earning the nickname ‘Messinho’ in the process, while Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has admitted the similarities he possesses to Cole Palmer.
Estevao has now been compared to Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal by ex-Chelsea midfielder Poyet.
Estevao earns Lamine Yamal comparison
“He has potential. He has got everything. I think he can be incredible and top, top, top class,” Poyet admitted to GOAL.
“Now he needs to do it all the time. Now we are talking about Lamine Yamal and when you are looking at him, it’s every game - every game doing something, even with the national team. When somebody does it at that level all the time, or most of the time, then you are there. He has got the potential to get there. Now he needs to do it all the time, which I hope is possible."
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland also praised Estevao following his match-winning goal against Liverpool by describing him as a “wonderkid” on social media app Snapchat, while Chelsea fan favourite Oscar recently admitted that he is a huge admirer of his compatriot.
