Five new talents who have emerged this season
While clubs often favour bolstering their squads with big-money summer signings, several wonderkid talents have emerged onto the scene during the early weeks of the 2025-26 campaign.
Youngsters are being trusted with meaningful first-team minutes across world football and there have been a number of standout performers in Europe.
Premier League: Josh King (Fulham)
Josh King has arguably been the breakout star of the 2025-26 Premier League season so far, despite the fact he is yet to register his first goal contribution in the competition.
The 18-year-old was a bit-part player last campaign, but he has started all seven of Fulham’s league fixtures this term and he already looks at home in the English top flight.
His close control is immense, he possesses a spectacular ability to carry the ball up the pitch, while his movement is already top notch. Goals and assists will undoubtedly follow, as will interest from the best clubs in England if his current trajectory continues.
La Liga: Etta Eyong (Levante)
Villarreal made the surprising decision to sell Etta Eyong to Levante for just €3 million on Transfer Deadline Day, although the Spanish side did include a number of future sell-on clauses in the deal to ensure they will profit financially if the Cameroon star departs for one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
And with five goals and three assists in eight La Liga games so far this season, it’s fair to say that Eyong looks destined to be playing Champions League football in the not too distant future.
Barcelona are believed to be the current frontrunners for his signature, amid their pursuit of a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, while reports suggest that Manchester United are also keen admirers.
Serie A: Francesco Pio Esposito (Inter Milan)
Francesco Pio Esposito has been tipped for big things for a number of years now as a star of Inter Milan's youth academy, and he has finally burst onto the Serie A scene this year.
He was the top goalscorer in Serie B last season, during a loan spell at Spezia, and he was brought back into the Inter first-team squad this term.
The 20-year-old netted his first Serie A goal in the win at Cagliari and he has now broken into the Italy squad, scoring his first Azzurri goal versus Estonia during the October international break. Outstanding with his back to play and a lethal finisher with impressive physical strength, Esposito has been compared to Christian Vieri, Luca Toni and Harry Kane.
Bundesliga: Can Uzun (Eintracht Frankfurt)
Can Uzun could be the next big-money sale for Eintracht Frankfurt after Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike. Although not a striker like the others, he has an incredible scoring rate so far this season, with five goals and three assists in just six Bundesliga matches.
He became the fourth teenager this century to score in five games in a row in Europe's top five leagues and has also starred for Turkey following an international tug-of-war with Germany.
The attacking midfielder has been compared to Bayern Munich and Germany star attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala, but insists “I don't want to be the next Jamal Musiala, I want to be the first Can Uzun.”
Ligue 1: Matias Fernandez-Pardo (Lille)
Matias Fernandez-Pardo made 34 appearances across all competitions for Lille last season, following his arrival from KAA Gent, however it wasn’t until the end of the campaign that he established himself as a regular starter.
The 20-year-old therefore remains a fairly unknown quantity for the majority of fans, but he is enjoying a quietly impressive 2025-26 campaign and it won’t be long before he is being tipped to complete a big-money transfer to a top European club.
The left winger has two goals and two assists in just 620 minutes of action so far this term, and his flair and explosiveness in the final third has helped Lille enjoy a fairly fruitful start to the season.
