City and PSG are now currently discussing a transfer fee, and the move is expected to go through once Ederson is sold to Galatasaray.

Donnarumma's potential move to City comes as something of a surprise as Guardiola is renowned for wanting goalkeepers who are good with their feet, something that is a well-publicised weakness in the Italian's game.

And Guardiola raised further questions on Donnarumma's ability to fit in with his requirements when explaining his demands of his goalkeeper.

What did Guardiola say?

“I think what has evolved most in football since I was a player is the position of the goalkeeper. The training, the trainers, the methodology – how they train the keepers is outstanding,” Guardiola told Men in Blazers.

“Before the keeper was saving and now they save and have to play. We play with 11 players. There are teams who use it more but it is part of the game.

“It’s difficult for me to find one keeper that is not brave with their feet. It is so difficult to find. Now I’m not saying be like Ederson and have the ability to put the ball 60 yards in the pockets.

“He has an incredible ability to do that, and Stefan Ortega has this ability as well. But all of them have to be a minimum to play.”

Donnarumma has been transfer listed by PSG after failing to agree a new contract that expires next year.

PSG offered Donnarumma a much-lower salary to renew, with Luis Enrique confirming that he wanted a goalkeeper who was better with his feet. PSG have signed Lucas Chevalier to be the club's new number one.

Selling Donnarumma is a controversial move as the Italian was arguably PSG's key player in them winning the Champions League last season.

The ex-Milan goalkeeper produced sensational performances in the knockout wins over Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal before PSG beat Inter in the final.
