AS Roma are still trying to sign Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho after his agents supposedly pressured him to reject an initial contract offer.

The former England winger is expected to leave Old Trafford before Deadline Day, but his destination remains uncertain. Sancho has fielded interest from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Germany and Italy, with several Serie A clubs holding talks over a move.

Roma appeared to have the best chances of securing his signing after having a loan offer with an obligation to buy him for €23 million accepted by the Red Devils.

However, the move collapsed when Sancho rejected the Giallorossi's contract offer, reportedly because he was not happy with the €5m salary on the table.

The winger instead wanted to explore other options, having also received strong interest from Besiktas, although it is understood that a move to Istanbul is only viewed as a last resort should no move to a top-five league materialise before the deadline.

Roma not giving up on Sancho

According to Sky Sports, Roma are not giving up on Sancho and could make another contract offer as head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is extremely keen on the 25-year-old.

Gazzetta dello Sport echoes this, stating that Roma are willing to offer as much as €9m per year to convince Sancho to make the move. They also hope that new signing Leon Bailey can put in a good word for the club, with the two said to be close friends.

Intriguingly, the report states that it wasn't Sancho per se who rebuffed Roma's initial offer but rather that his agents were to blame for the rejection.

The Italian publication asserts that the player's representatives are demanding exorbitant commissions, which previously scared off Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

It is added that Roma want Sancho to bring his agents 'back to their senses' as they are reportedly favouring a lucrative move to Turkey or Saudi Arabia. There is hope that the player could end up in Italy's capital, after all.
