Chelsea could sell Jackson - but do they really want Liverpool to benefit?
Chelsea are willing to sell Nicolas Jackson this summer, but Newcastle have asked the Blues to lower their asking price for the forward.
The 24-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca’s side, following the summer arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, and he is expected to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes on 1 September.
Jackson has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe since being cast aside by Chelsea, including Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, although rumours suggest that an extended stay in the Premier League could be on the cards.
Aston Villa are actively pursuing a move as Unai Emery targets a reunion with his former Villarreal pupil, while Newcastle are also interested in signing the Senegal international amid the uncertain future of Alexander Isak.
The Sweden superstar is desperate to leave St James’ Park and join Liverpool before the end of Transfer Deadline Day, however Arne Slot’s side are yet to lodge an acceptable offer and Isak has been left in limbo for the past few weeks.
Nicolas Jackson to join Newcastle?
Newcastle have identified a number of replacement options in the event that Isak departs, and Jackson has been earmarked as a possible alternative to wantaway Brentford star Yoane Wissa.
Eddie Howe’s side have already missed out on Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike, Delap and Pedro so far this summer, and Jackson is now one of the primary names on their transfer shortlist.
However, Newcastle have asked Chelsea to lower their asking price for the 24-year-old, which currently stands at a reported €90 million.
That is according to renowned X account Indy Kaila, who claims that Jackson is prioritising a move to Newcastle this summer.
The former Villarreal striker has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for Chelsea, however he has been excluded from the Blues’ matchday squad for both of their opening two matches of the 2025-26 Premier League season.
