Manchester United are in desperate need of several new signings after their worst season in Premier League history last year.

The Red Devils finished down in 15th place in the English top flight table during the 2024-25 campaign, and Ruben Amorim is determined to finalise the signings of several high-profile players in order to improve the squad at his disposal.

Despite financial concerns, Man Utd are set to spend big yet again in 2025 and they have identified a number of key targets as they aim to challenge for European football next year.

Last summer, Man Utd signed Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui, while Scott McTominay, Mason Greenwood and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were among the players sold.

This year, Man Utd have already completed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, after triggering the release clause in his contract at Molineux, while several stars have departed on Bosman deals.

The 2025-26 Premier League summer transfer window was open from 1-10 June due to the Club World Cup and it reopened on 16 June. Transfer Deadline Day is on 1 September.

Bryan Mbeumo remains Man Utd’s priority transfer target as things stand, but a deal is extremely complicated and an agreement is far from close.

An opening offer has been submitted to Brentford, although Tottenham Hotspur’s appointment of Thomas Frank has complicated things and Man Utd could miss out on his signature as a result.

Meanwhile, a new centre forward remains a priority, but top target Viktor Gyokeres has set his sights on completing a blockbuster move to Arsenal and Man Utd yet to pinpoint their preferred alternative. Jean-Philippe Mateta, Moise Kean, Victor Osimhen, Jonathan David, Benjamin Sesko and Randal Kolo Muani are among the club’s options.

Man Utd have seemingly given up on agreeing a deal for Atalanta star Ederson, despite the fact he had been identified as a potential midfield target by Amorim, while the club may also look to sign a new wing-back and a new central defender.

Aston Villa superstar Emiliano Martinez has emerged as the dream candidate to replace Andre Onana as the first choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford.

However, Man Utd need to offload several first-team stars in order to fund their summer business.

Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are almost guaranteed to be sold on permanent deals following loan spells away from Old Trafford last season, while Amorim has informed Alejandro Garnacho to find a new club following his antics after the Europa League final.

The Argentina international wants to stay in the Premier League, although finding a suitor willing to pay at least €70m could be tricky.

Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund’s torrid spell at Man Utd may come to an end this summer amid significant interest from Inter Milan.

However, Bruno Fernandes has rejected a move to Saudi Arabia, while talk of Kobbie Mainoo departing has died down of late.
