Chelsea to sell €27m signing after just 15 appearances

Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu this summer, according to a report.
The France youth international's spell at Stamford Bridge could be over before it has even really begun. Signed from Stade Rennais for a sizeable €27 million in 2023, Ugochukwu has to date only made 15 competitive appearances for Chelsea.
Hamstring problems saw the 21-year-old spend more time on the sidelines than on the pitch in his debut season in West London, while his second campaign was spent on loan at Southampton.
Although it was an almost record-breakingly bad season for the Saints, Ugochuwku's stint on the South Coast is viewed positively by the Chelsea hierarchy, according to The Athletic.
However, the report adds that Chelsea could nevertheless look to offload the Frenchman this summer.
Chelsea to sell Ugochukwu?
It is stated that there is major uncertainty surrounding Ugochukwu's place in Enzo Maresca's side due to how stacked Chelsea are in midfield. With Andrey Santos returning from his loan at Strasbourg and Dario Essugo unveiled on Monday, Ugochukwu is facing limited minutes next term.
It is therefore reported that Chelsea could listen to offers for the youngster this summer, including for permanent deals. Whether the Blues can turn a profit on Ugochukwu remains to be seen, but they are confident that he will generate significant interest after his loan spell at St. Mary's.

The outlet claims that Ugochukwu is still 'well-liked' at Chelsea, but the bitter truth is that he will likely struggle for game time now, illustrating the cut-throat nature of the club's revolving-door transfer business.
Ugochukwu could be one of a double-digit number of players to leave Stamford Bridge this summer as Chelsea will once again be extremely busy in the market. Three players have already been signed, and a fourth could be added today.
