The Red Devils are one step away from the Europa League final after a 3-0 victory over Athletic Club in the first leg of their semi-final tie on Thursday, but Amorim is eager for his squad to end their woeful Premier League run.

Man Utd are currently languishing down in 14th place in the English top flight and, despite their success in Europe, they are without a win in their last five league matches.

Amorim’s side travel to face Brentford on Sunday afternoon and the 40-year-old has warned his players they mustn’t lose focus amid their Europa League hopes.

“We have always a responsibility to perform,” Amorim told reporters during his pre-match press conference. “We have always a responsibility of the results. We have to show the importance of every game at Manchester United.

“Then every position we have in the Premier League, you win more money. So that is important. Then it is fighting for your pride.

“Of course we don't have anything to fight for [in the Premier League]. We have the second leg, which is really important for us. We know that, but we need to be competitive in every game.”

Man Utd’s summer transfer plan

Amorim has previously admitted that finances will be tight at Old Trafford this summer, with the club set to offload a number of players in order to fund their summer business.

Marcus Rashford and Antony are among the stars expected to depart Man Utd on a permanent deal ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, while Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho also continue to be linked with an exit amid continuous interest from Chelsea.

In regards to incomings, Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha is set to join the club for around €73 million and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen remains a key target.
