Man Utd beat Chelsea to striker signing as Romano announces 'done deal'

Manchester United have successfully warded off competition from Chelsea to agree a deal for Le Havre youngster Enzo Kana-Biyik.
The 18-year-old striker has been on the Red Devils' radar for some time. Talks had been taking place for several weeks, but Man Utd have finally managed to secure a deal for Kana-Biyik.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano and journalist Christopher Michel, the Red Devils' signing of the Le Havre wonderkid is wrapped up, pending only an official announcement.
The teenager has agreed a long-term contract until 2030 with the option for a further season. Michel reports that Man Utd managed to fend off competition from Chelsea and especially PSG, where Kana-Biyik's 16-year-old brother Lorenzo plays for the U17s.
The striker will link up with the Red Devils in the summer in what is another move that signals INEOS' ambition of snapping up hugely promising young players.

Who is Enzo Kana-Biyik?
However, Kana-Biyik won't be an immediate reinforcement for Ruben Amorim's first team. The 18-year-old has yet to play a single minute of senior football as he has featured primarily for Le Havre's U19s this term.
He has made the bench twice for the relegation-battling Ligue 1 side this season, but did not manage to get on the pitch, not even in their shocking Coupe de France loss to fourth-tier Stade Briochin in December.

Kana-Biyik has scored nine goals in 17 outings in the U19 National. He also made three appearances for France's U18s in March but did not manage to get on the scoresheet.
Born in Paris, Kana-Biyik comes from a football-crazy family. His father is Cameroon legend Andre Kana-Biyik, while his 35-year-old, already-retired brother Jean-Armel also represented the African country. As mentioned, his younger brother Lorenzo is currently at PSG.
