Man Utd face transfer NIGHTMARE as rivals join race for perfect signing

Newcastle United have joined the race for Manchester United target Jonathan Tah, according to a report.
The Bayer Leverkusen defender is set to be on the move in the summer after running down his contract with the former Bundesliga champions. Tah has been flirting with a transfer for years, and he will finally get his wish in the upcoming window.
The Germany international looked almost guaranteed to join Barcelona in the summer as the Blaugrana made significant progress in talks with him over the winter, but their uncertain financial situation has prevented them from getting the deal over the line.
While a move to Catalunya is still possible, the lack of confirmation has emboldened other clubs to also hold talks with Tah's agent Pini Zahavi. Real Madrid are expected to become an option for the centre-back once Xabi Alonso is confirmed as their new head coach.
Bayern have reignited their pursuit of Tah after failing to secure his signing in the Bundesliga's biggest transfer saga of the previous summer, which ultimately ruined the relationship between the Munich outfit and Leverkusen.
Newcastle join Tah race
In England, Man Utd have emerged as a concrete option for Tah. The 29-year-old has played the best football of his career in Alonso's back-three system, so he would be an ideal stylistic fit for Ruben Amorim's side, while his price also makes him appealing to the cash-strapped Red Devils.
However, Man Utd know that they may not be the most attractive destination for a player of Tah's ambition, especially if they fail to qualify for the Champions League via the Europa League.

Tah, who was previously desperate to play in the Premier League, could have more tempting options, and one of them appears to be Newcastle. At least that is according to The Sun.
It is claimed that the Magpies have now joined the race for Tah, whom they view as a potential alternative to the hugely expensive Marc Guehi, who is also being courted by Chelsea and others.
Eddie Howe wants to build a team that is capable of mounting a title challenge and feels that his side need at least one high-profile defensive reinforcement. Guehi remains Newcastle's top target, but Tah could be a much more attainable alternative.
