Mbeumo has been heavily linked with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United in recent months, but Man Utd have now joined the race for his signature as they eye a potential summer deal.

The 25-year-old is high on Man Utd’s transfer wishlist, as per The Telegraph, and the Red Devils are hoping to finalise an agreement for the forward in addition to Matheus Cunha.

Cunha, 25, is expected to move to Old Trafford for around €73 million and Amorim’s side are also eager to bring Mbeumo to the club - who is valued at roughly €70m by Brentford.

In fact, CaughtOffside claim that Man Utd have now prepared an opening offer for Mbeumo after identifying the Cameroon star as the perfect candidate to bolster their attack.

Bryan Mbeumo to leave Brentford?

Man Utd’s interest in Mbeumo comes after Brentford boss Thomas Frank admitted that a sale could take place this summer if a suitable offer is received.

He told Sky Sports: “I'm the head coach, I want my best players to stay forever. I know that Bryan is very happy being here at Brentford, he's thriving, doing well and playing fantastic. What happens in the future? I don't know.

“I've said many times: we are a selling club. But at the same time we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world who aren't selling clubs.

“So, of course, if the right price - and that's going to be expensive - is coming, then I'm sure the club will be open for it. But I'm very happy he's here, and I'm convinced that Bryan will still be happy playing football here.”

Mbeumo, who has scored 68 goals in 239 appearances for Brentford since his arrival from Troyes in 2019, only has one year remaining on his current contract in west London, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €57.2m.
