Manchester United will be forced to make Victor Osimhen the highest-paid player at the club if they want to sign him this summer.

The Nigeria international has emerged as one of Ruben Amorim’s top transfer targets for the upcoming summer window, although his wage demands are currently proving to be a major obstacle.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Osimhen’s situation, but a move to the Saudi Pro League now looks increasingly likely due to the Nigerian’s request to receive an annual salary of at least €12 million.

As a result of his wage demands, Man Utd are extremely unlikely to sign the 26-year-old as they want to ensure that Bruno Fernandes keeps his place at the top of the club’s earnings chart.

That is according to GiveMeSport, who claim that Fernandes currently earns €443,000 per week at Old Trafford.

The Portugal international has been linked with Real Madrid and clubs in Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, but Man Utd want to keep him at the club and they are reportedly eager to ensure he retains his spot as their best-paid player.

Man Utd’s Victor Osimhen alternatives

With a move for Osimhen looking unlikely, Man Utd are set to turn their attention to finalising a deal for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko or Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.

All four strikers are on the Red Devils’ radar and they are set to intensify transfer talks over the next few weeks amid their pursuit of a prolific goalscorer this summer.

Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have both been linked with a summer exit, with Man Utd determined to sign a reliable number nine as they look to recover from a dismal 2024-25 campaign.

Matheus Cunha is also expected to arrive at Old Trafford later this year, although he is set to be deployed in an attacking midfield role when his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers is officially confirmed.
