New Enzo Maresca SACK claim as Chelsea replacement already lined up

Chelsea could sack Enzo Maresca and replace him with former Ajax coach Francesco Farioli, according to Italian media.
TuttoMercatoWeb reports that Farioli is high on the list of Chelsea, who could part ways with Maresca sooner than anticipated.
If Chelsea fail to win on Sunday at Nottingham Forest, it will be the end of the road for Maresca. The Italian coach started his Chelsea adventure well, but now fears an early sacking.
Chelsea are fourth in the Premier League and have a Champions League ticket in their own hands. A defeat on Sunday at the City Ground means a huge drop in the rankings.
Should Chelsea taste defeat on Sunday, it is likely that the Londoners will fall outside the top five and thus lose their ticket for the Champions League. Nottingham Forest, seventh in the Premier League, are only one point behind Chelsea.
A defeat will therefore be disastrous for Chelsea, who will play the Conference League final against Real Betis a few days later. It is therefore questionable whether Maresca will still be at the helm next season.
Chelsea eye Farioli
The Italian manager is under considerable pressure and seems to fear for his job. Farioli is considered one of the top favourites to succeed his compatriot, provided they lose at City Ground on Sunday.
Farioli was called by SC Braga a few hours after his departure from Ajax, who had also been hoping for the arrival of the coach in previous years. Braga, who finished fourth in the Portuguese league last season, are looking for a successor to Carlos Carvalhal.

According to O Jogo, club president Antonio Salvador has been charmed by Farioli for some time. In 2023, a transfer to Braga was already very close, but at the time, Farioli opted for French club OGC Nice.
A transfer to Portugal turned out to be unfeasible at the time due to the lack of the required coaching license.
