FootballTransfers understands that Nico Williams remains Arsenal’s first choice option, although they are reportedly also eyeing up a possible move for Rodrygo amid his uncertain Real Madrid future.

The Brazil international has enjoyed a successful six-year stint with Los Blancos, but he is now pushing to leave the club this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The 24-year-old was an unused substitute during Real Madrid’s 4-3 defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico on Sunday and Spanish outlet Marca claim that he never wants to play for the club again.

Rodrygo is reportedly angered by becoming the fourth-biggest superstar in Real Madrid’s attack - behind Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham - and his relationship with his team-mates has “deteriorated significantly,” as per Marca.

Xabi Alonso is set to replace Carlo Ancelotti in the Santiago Bernabeu dugout this summer, although the Spaniard’s arrival will reportedly not be enough to convince Rodrygo to extend his spell at the club.

In fact, Real Madrid are open to offloading Rodrygo if they receive a suitable offer this summer, according to Marca.

Rodrygo to join Arsenal?

As per Relevo, Arsenal recently submitted an enquiry over a possible summer deal for Rodrygo, although it’s unclear whether the Gunners are currently in talks with the Brazilian’s representatives.

The Real Madrid superstar has scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in 50 appearances so far this season and he is the 16th-most valuable player in world football, as per FootballTransfers’ in-house Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) model.
