'He won't come': Amorim fires ASTONISHING shot over Gyokeres Man Utd transfer

Ruben Amorim has fired a warning shot to Viktor Gyokeres if the Sporting Lisbon hot-shot is to join Manchester United this summer.
United are in the market for a leading striker and, unsurprisingly, links to Gyokeres have been strong after his stunning performances under Amorim at Sporting.
However, despite Sporting being open to Gyokeres’ departure this summer, the 26-year-old is thought to be hesitant over a reunion with Amorim at United due to his desire to play regularly in the Champions League and compete for trophies.
While Amorim insisted he had not spoken to Gyokeres, the United boss addressed any transfer targets who would only consider moving to Old Trafford if they qualified for the Champions League, insisting he didn’t want those players at the club.
Speaking to Portuguese outlet Sport TV, Amorim said: “Gyokeres deal? I didn’t talk to him. But if a player only wants to come to Man United to play Champions League, then he won’t come.
“We want players who want to represent United, not players who want to play certain competitions.”
Amorim prioritising personality over ability in Man Utd transformation
Amorim’s defiant stance is further evidence of his desire to keep the right player at United, having allowed Marcus Rashford to leave in January due to the player’s off-the-pitch commitment.
Despite Rashford’s improved form on loan at Aston Villa, Amorim said earlier this month that he had no regrets over his decision due to his belief in ‘hurting the club now to do something more important’.
Passing up the opportunity to sign a player seemingly unwilling to deliver in the tough times, even a player with Gyokeres’ goal record, would allow United to target strong personalities instead of high-reputation names.

Having seen Matheus Cunha already agree to join the club despite their potential lack of European football next season, Amorim appears clear in his vision for United and what attributes he requires from his players.
United could still qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League this season, starting with their semi-final against Athletic Club on Thursday, but Ipswich’s Liam Delap is still thought to be the club’s top target to strengthen up front even if Gyokeres makes himself available.
