The Red Devils captain, 29, has been heavily linked with a departure during the upcoming summer transfer window amid significant transfer interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for Fernandes, although Thomas Tuchel’s exit and Vincent Kompany’s potential arrival means the Bavarians are now reportedly targeting a move for Manchester City winger Jack Grealish instead.

Although Fernandes is eager for Man Utd’s ambition to match his own, the Portuguese international is likely to remain at the club, despite the fact the 2023 Carabao Cup triumph is Man Utd’s only trophy since 2017.

Furthermore, The Star have reported that Man Utd are poised to offer Fernandes a new deal that would include a healthy increase to his €270,000 per week (£230,000) wages.

His existing contract at Old Trafford is due to expire in 2026 and his recent comments suggest he won’t push to leave this summer.

What has Bruno Fernandes said?

During a piece for The Players Tribune, Fernandes outlined his desire to remain at Man Utd, despite speculation of a summer exit.

“I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world,” the Portuguese international wrote. “I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream.

“I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club. If you go talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing. We want to compete for the league. We want to be playing Champions League football. We want to be in cup finals.

“That is the standard. That is what I want. That is what you all deserve.

“I just want to keep fighting. I want to be here. My family wants to be here. If you doubt that for a moment, then you just have to look at my Spotify Wrapped, and that will prove it to you.”
