Chelsea remain interested in Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, according to the player's agent.

The Blues were linked with the 20-year-old in January but a move never materialised.

He has since scored some important goals, in games against Manchester City and Liverpool, and his asking price will only have gone up.

Yet, it seems that the west London club have not given up hope of bringing him to Stamford Bridge.

And, with Nicolas Jackson coming on leaps and bounds in recent weeks, there is less need for Chelsea to sign a high profile striker to replace him.

Instead, a move for Duran, who could provide healthy competition for the Senegalese man, makes a lot of sense.

Duran's agent on Chelsea interest

Duran's agent, Jonathan Herrera, revealed in an interview with Colombian radio station El VBar Caracol that Chelsea remained interested in the striker.

"The interest has always existed," he said. "The fact that Pochettino leaves the club (doesn't matter), the one who wants him in the end is the club.

"We will see what happens, but there has always been an interest. Let's see how we can handle it and make sure Aston Villa is ready."

Herrera went on to say that despite Aston Villa's fantastic 2023-24 season, Duran may move elsewhere in pursuit of more regular playing time.

"He is a player who has a contract with Aston Villa. He ended up doing things very well and the coach is counting on him.

"It is a club that has gotten into the Champions League. It is a great opportunity, but we know that he wants to play, he wants to go out and play, let's see.

"Now the market is opening, the club is looking at some options and so are we.”
