Manchester United and Newcastle could make an approach for 29-year-old midfielder Adrien Rabiot if he does not sign a new contract with Juventus this summer, according to reports.

The Frenchman is yet to sign fresh terms with the Old Lady, so at this rate, he will be available to sign with another club on a free deal.

A report from Calciomercato suggests that, even though the Serie A giants wish for Rabiot to extend his time in Turin, he will not sign an extension until he is given a clear picture of the club’s ambition over the coming years.

Newcastle are also believed to be keen on the player and both the Magpies and Man Utd have reportedly already initiated a move to sign him on a free transfer.

What did Adrien Rabiot say about his future?

Rabiot was linked with a move to Man Utd last season but ended up staying with Juventus.

Recently he spoke about his future and whether he would like to continue with the Italian club even longer.

He told Sky Italia: “I remained because I wanted to remain, to help this team get back into the Champions League, and that is what the club asked of me too.

“If we achieve that objective, then we will sit down and talk about it. That would certainly be better from my point of view, but we still have to discuss it.”

“At this moment we have to concentrate on the pitch and the games that need to be played. Everyone is concentrated on that objective, then there will be time to talk about it later.”

“To get back into the Champions League with Juve. Even if I am not here next season, my personal objective is to get Juve back into the Champions League and win the Coppa Italia. Then we’ll talk about it.”
