Jurgen Klopp believes Trent Alexander-Arnold will benefit from “new influences” when he leaves his post as Liverpool head coach at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Klopp, 56, will step down once the current season concludes, with the Reds searching for his replacement as things stand.

Arne Slot and Roberto De Zerbi are also under consideration, with Fabrizio Romano reporting the former has been in direct contact with the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp on Trent Alexander-Arnold

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Merseyside derby against Everton on Wednesday, Klopp admitted that Alexander-Arnold will benefit from being coached by a new manager.

“He has been a fantastic player from the first day,” Klopp said. “[He is an] outstanding talent and [he] has turned into a world class football player.

“It is rare as a manager you are part of a journey for such a long time. Trent has never had another manager so it will be good for him to get new influences in the future. But he can be happy with the steps he has made.

“It is nice to have these players around. I have nothing bad to say about him and his development. He has a story that not many clubs can write but he will be someone people talk about in 30 years.”

Alexander-Arnold, 25, has made 32 appearances for Liverpool so far this season, racking up three goals and nine assists. However, his current deal at Anfield is due to expire in 2025, with a new contract not yet agreed, and Real Madrid have recently been linked with a sensational move for the England international.
