Sevilla brutally troll Mason Greenwood over Sergio Ramos duel

Mason Greenwood’s loan from Manchester United had been going rather smoothly until Tuesday evening, when he was shutout by Sevilla and Sergio Ramos.

Sevilla have had little to cheer this season as they sit 17th in LaLiga and were dumped out of Europe at the group stage, but they overcame Greenwood’s Getafe 3-1 in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.

Ramos upstaged that Man Utd loanee by opening the scoring, and though Jaime Mata hit back before the break for the hosts, a double from Isaac Romero in the second half guided the Andalusians to a morale-boosting victory.

Greenwood, who played the full 90 minutes, struggled to get any change out of the visiting defence, with Sevilla’s social media team taking particular delight in the manner in which veteran defender Ramos dominated him.

On an X post with the caption: “Sergio Ramos emptying his pack pocket after the game tonight,” Sevilla posted images of keys, a wallet, an iPhone and Greenwood.

Man Utd man stopped in his tracks

Greenwood was voted December’s Player of the Month by LaLiga fans, having played his best game in a Getafe shirt against Sevilla in the league. On that occasion, he scored and assisted at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

He has subsequently featured against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano without scoring, though he was sent off in the latter encounter.

A police investigation into his private life, and a subsequent internal investigation from Man Utd, saw him miss 18 months of football. Criminal charges against him, which he denied, were dropped due to the withdrawal of a key witness, but the Old Trafford club determined that he was not fit to continue in their squad this season.

Greenwood ultimately moved to Getafe on loan, where he has five goals and four assists in 18 games, but his long-term future is yet to be determined.
