Fulham are contemplating a move for Scott McTominay in the upcoming January transfer window as a replacement for Joao Palhinha.

Fichajes reports that if Palhinha heads to Bayern Munich at that time, the Cottagers could make a play for the Manchester United midfielder. The 26-year-old academy graduate has found himself on the fringes of Erik ten Hag's squad and was made available for transfer by the club in recent months, with West Ham making a failed offer.

During the summer transfer window, Man Utd was open to selling McTominay and received multiple inquiries from Premier League clubs, but he ended up staying. Even Bayern Munich were among the interested parties and may have explored the possibility of acquiring him.

But the Germain champions eventually shifted their focus to Fulham's Palhinha, although the move fell through due to the early closure of the German transfer window.

But Bayern is expected to renew their efforts to sign the 28-year-old Portuguese midfielder in January.

With the international break ongoing, Fulham is aware of Palhinha's desire to join Bayern in January. Manager Marco Silva is interested in reigniting the club's interest in McTominay, who continues to impress for Scotland in the Euro Qualifiers but is deemed surplus to requirements at Man Utd.

McTominay's recent scoring exploits for Scotland, including being one of the top scorers in the Euro 2024 qualifying stage have resulted in an outcry for Man Utd to get him playing further afield.

Indeed, Fulham had expressed interest in McTominay during the summer, and it's possible that a move was rejected by the player himself, according to reports.

However, Manchester United has a specific valuation in mind for McTominay - with the club wanting some £40m for him.
