Graham Potter is on the brink of being sacked and could be axed on Tuesday if Chelsea get another negative result against Liverpool.

That is according to Football Insider, which reports that Potter will survive until Tuesday evening’s Premier League match at home to Liverpool.

However, if Chelsea have another negative result then it is very possible that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly will pull the trigger.

Potter is at risk of the sack following yet another negative result on Saturday.

Chelsea lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa thanks to goals from Ollie Watkins and John McGinn.

Potter has had a disastrous time of things since replacing Thomas Tuchel as manager in the early weeks of the season.

Chelsea find themselves down in 11th position in the Premier League, 11 points off Champions League qualification with just 10 games to go.

The Blues’ only hope of qualifying for the Champions League now is by winning the competition this term.

But that will be very difficult as Chelsea play Real Madrid in the quarter-final and then would face Bayern Munich of Man City in the semis.

Boehly has attempted to be patient with Potter but Football Insider now reports that patience has run out.

The American has sanctioned a world record transfer outlay this season - both last summer and in January - and the results given the spending is unacceptable.

Pochettino favourite to replace Potter

Julian Nagelsmann is the new favourite for the Chelsea job with the bookmakers, having been sacked by Bayern Munich last week.

Second favourite is Mauricio Pochettino, who has been out of work since being sacked by PSG in 2022.

Other managers who have been linked with replacing Potter include Zinedine Zidane, Luis Enrique, Diego Simeone and Jose Mourinho.
