Manchester United would be signing the ‘new George Best’ if they were to bring Napoli sensation Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

That is according to former Italy, Inter and Juventus striker Christian Vieri, who is in no doubt about the greatness of the Georgian winger.

Kvaratskhelia has been the breakout superstar of European football, forming a sensational attacking partnership with Victor Osimhen that has Napoli flying in Serie A and abroad.

Kvaratskhelia has subsequently been compared to Diego Maradona, Roberto Baggio and George Best.

And it is the former Man Utd legend from the 1960s and 70s who Vieri believes is most comparable to Kvara.

What did Vieri say?

"The goal he scored was the stuff of madness!,” Vieri said on BoboTV, referring to Kvara’s brilliant solo goal against Atalanta on Saturday.

“If he goes to Manchester United, the days of George Best will return. Kvaratskhelia is the same. I can't wait for Wednesday to see Napoli play."

Kvaratskhelia has been linked with a host of top European sides, including Man Utd, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Kvaratskhelia moved to Napoli from Dinamo Batumi last summer for €10 million – and that already looks like the bargain of the season.

Kvaratskhelia has been arguably the best player in Serie A this season - along with teammate Osimhen - and has already scored 13 goals and assisted 15 in all competitions.

He has delivered a string of brilliant performances, including tearing Juventus apart 5-1 in January and Liverpool 4-1 in the Champions League in September.

The winger’s form has led Napoli to the top of Serie A, 18 points clear of Inter Milan in second.

They have also been arguably the best team in the Champions League so far, topping their group above Liverpool and beating Frankfurt 2-0 in the first leg of the last-16 in Germany.
