Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani as Frankfurt say they see the prospect of him staying as no longer realistic.

Bild reporter Christian Falk exclusively revealed to CaughtOffside that the Premier League giants are preparing a huge offer to lure the Frenchman away from the Bundesliga and to Old Trafford.

“Everyone’s getting the feeling that it’s no longer realistic for Frankfurt to keep Randal Kolo Muani for one year more,” the reporter wrote in his column.

“The player’s already come out and said it’s the first time he can think about a summer move – to a big club in particular. So, you see, Frankfurt is losing a lot of quality and this could be the reason why Oliver Glasner is considering leaving.

He continued: “Manchester United is a big thing for Muani. They don’t have the right striker for this position; look at Wout Weghorst – he’s only scored two goals for them.

“They are preparing an offer for him. He knows that and if you have United in your head, it’s hard to concentrate on Frankfurt.”

Frankfurt's managerial situation

Frankfurt have their manager Oliver Glasner considering his future and the lack of assurances around the managerial position will only help Man Utd’s chances in landing the striker.

Marcus Rashford has been in stellar form but Erik ten Hag still wants a fresh face for the forward line and the hope is that the Dutchman will receive a big budget to bring in for the upcoming season.

Rashford has had his best season for the club so far – with 30 goal contributions in 35 games. But it is thought that Wout Weghorst is a mere stopgap and the club will look to purchase a marquee attacker in the window.

One of their targets is thought to be Muani, but his current side have slapped a £89m price tag on him, reports Goal.
