How much is Chelsea-target Graham Potter’s release clause?

Chelsea broke the world record this summer for the most money spent in a single transfer window and they could be about to splash the cash yet again.
The Blues are in the market for a new manager after sacking Thomas Tuchel and they have targeted Brighton’s Graham Potter as a replacement.
Potter has been given permission to hold talks with Chelsea and he is believed to be the favourite for the role, although the club also wish to speak to Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane.
However, should Potter be the man Chelsea end up with, the Blues will have to shell out a massive fee, with the Seagulls boss having a £16 million release clause in his contract.
That outlay would represent the second-highest fee for a manager in football history, behind Bayern Munich’s £21m hiring of Julian Naglesmann in 2021.

Chelsea are looking to make a quick appointment after Tuchel’s departure, although they did not have anyone immediately lined up before making the decision.
Owner Todd Boehly wants to make a long-term appointment of somebody who can create a new culture at the club as well as listening to the board’s ideas going forward.
Potter has enjoyed a growing reputation in football due to his attacking brand of football and achieving relative success with smaller budgets.

The former Ostersunds boss currently has Brighton sitting in fourth position in the Premier League, two places above Chelsea, having led his side to their highest ever position of ninth last season.
Potter immediately was listed as the bookies’ favourite following the news about Tuchel, along with Pochettino, Zidane and Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers.
Discussions have already taken place over Potter’s backroom staff and the details are set to be finalised in the coming days, with Chelsea hoping to have a new manager in place by their next game against Fulham.
