Cristiano Ronaldo’s wait to leave Manchester United is set to carry on a little longer after Bayern Munich made it clear they weren’t interested in signing the Portuguese forward.

This is the second time the club have had to publicly declare they aren’t interested in signing Ronaldo, with the first coming a few weeks ago when speculation first arose about the Red Devils forward.

Ronaldo wishes to spend the final years of his career at a club that can challenge for top honours and compete for the Champions League, something he feels he can’t do at Manchester United.

In recent weeks, he has already been rejected by the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Napoli and Bayern Munich, either due to the high cost of operations, his age or his tactical fit.

Bayern Munich deny Ronaldo interest

Over the last week, speculation about a move to Bayern Munich rose once again, and it took the club to publicly deny any such interest.

The club’s sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, spoke about the player’s future: "I have a lot of respect for Cristiano Ronaldo, his successes and his career. But once again: That was and is not a topic for us."

Bayern Munich have already had some turnover in the forward department this summer, following the signing of Liverpool’s Sadio Mane earlier in the window.

Additionally, they’re set to lose Robert Lewandowski, who is on his way to join Barcelona after publicly declaring his wish to leave the record German champions following the end of last season.

Due to Lewandowski’s departure, it was often reported that the Bayern bosses saw Ronaldo as a possible replacement for the Pole, but that has been denied by the club.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United last summer on a two-year deal, but the club could only manage a sixth-place finish in the league, missing out on Champions League football.

He has also been disappointed with the club’s transfer activity, despite the signings of Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen, with moves for Lisandro Martinez and Frenkie de Jong still close.

Should Ronaldo fail to secure a move this summer, he will have to continue at Manchester United and play Europa League football for the first time since he was at Sporting as a teenager.
