How much have Arsenal spent on transfers so far this summer?

Arsenal have spent £208m (€243.2m) on transfers so far this summer, as Mikel Arteta and co. look to build on their second-placed Premier League finish last season.

The Gunners also return to the Champions League in 2023/24, after six years away, so all the more need to bolster their squad.

It’s been a strong start to the new campaign for Arsenal, who defeated Manchester City on penalties in the Community Shield before winning their league opener against Nottingham Forest and their second game of the season, against Crystal Palace.

And it’s also been another big-spending transfer window for the North London club, who have made four signings – with more potentially still to come.

Germany forward Kai Havertz was the first new face through the door at the Emirates Stadium, joining from Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea for £65m (€75m) and signing a five-year contract.

Then came one of the biggest moves anywhere this summer as England midfielder Declan Rice completed a £105m (€116.6m) switch from West Ham, penning a five-year deal with the option of a further year.

Rice’s arrival was followed by that of Jurrien Timber from Ajax for £38m (€40m) – but the Netherlands defender, who also signed a five-year contract with the Gunners, is already set for a long spell on the sidelines after injuring his ACL in just his second appearance for his new club.

And Arsenal’s fourth summer acquisition to date is Spain goalkeeper David Raya, who joined from Brentford on a season-long loan deal – with the option for the Gunners to make it permanent next summer.

Havertz, Rice and Timber have all started both of Arsenal’s games this term – and while the latter won’t be involved for the foreseeable future, Havertz and Rice look bound to be mainstays of Arteta’s team.

The same could well go for Raya, who has been brought in to provide competition for Aaron Ramsdale between the sticks – if not as a replacement.
