Dusan Vlahovic’s move to Arsenal appeared close to completion just a matter of days ago but has since appears to have hit a major stumbling block.

Arsenal appeared to have a €70 million move for the striker lined up, which would have seen him move to the Emirates this month.

But amid rumours that Vlhaovic has his sights set on a move to Juventus, things have inexplicably stalled amid a veil of silence from the player and his entourage.

Even Fiorentina have admitted they don’t know quite what is happening with their star figure.

Speaking to La Nazione Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone admitted: “Some English clubs have made contact with Fiorentina, but there's no agreement and there can't be if someone doesn't talk.

“But in any case, we’re open to selling.

“The English clubs want Vlahovic, but evidently he's got other ideas. We're ready to negotiate, but him and his agent won't talk.

“There's been no communication from the player and his agents, although I asked them to be clear about their wishes.”

This situation will frustrate Fiorentina as much as it will Arsenal. While the Gunners are eager to buy a proven goalscorer, the Serie A club are willing vendors. After all, this could be their last chance to sell Vlahovic at his maximum value.

With a contract that expires in 2023 and no willingness to sign a new deal, the player’s value will only depreciate from here.

Can Juventus sign Vlahovic?

Since Thursday, the suggestion that Juventus could swoop to sign Vlahovic is a theory that has gained strength in the Italian media.

It appears that the player’s agent has been the one primarily pushing him towards Turin, with reports previously suggesting that Vlahovic was happy to move to Arsenal.

Just how the cash-strapped Juve might afford such an expensive acquisition, though, is unclear.

For now, at least, Vlahovic remains firmly on the market, although a move to Arsenal that seemed very likely only days ago, suddenly hangs in the balance.
