Rob Mac insists he and Ryan Reynolds do not interfere with on-field matters at Wrexham
Rob Mac insists that he and Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds do not interfere in any matters relating to the management of the team.
When Hollywood stars Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over ownership of Wrexham in February of 2021, they outlined a plan to bring Premier League football to the club and its fans.
What followed that change in ownership was an unprecedented three successive promotions to League One, League Two and then the Championship - all fuelled by money from Tinseltown.
Every moment of the new adventure has been detailed and highlighted in the behind-the-scenes documentary, 'Welcome to Wrexham' which can be seen on Disney+. As the players involved aren't elite superstars, the documentary dives into their personal lives as well as their lives on the pitch.
In their first season in the Championship under the Hollywood ownership, they impressively nearly made the playoffs only to miss out by just two points, finishing seventh. Still, it was a very successful campaign considering they had just been promoted the previous season, and it is clear that Reynolds and Mac have full faith in manager Phil Parkinson.
“I love it," Mac told The Athletic.
"I’m excited. I certainly try and give Phil space. As we do all season. We make zero football decisions, as you know. We just stay out of it.
“Whenever I speak with Phil, even during the season, it’s usually just personal. See how he’s doing and see whether he needs any help or assistance talking to the guys."
10 Most Expensive Wrexham Players Ever
| Player | Fee |

| Nathan Broadhead | £7.57m |
| Ben Sheaf | £6.53m |
| Callum Doyle | £5.06m |
| Lewis O'Brien | £3.05m |
| Dominic Hyam | £2.70m |
| Liberato Cacace | £2.18m |
| Sam Smith | £2.09m |
| Conor Coady | £2.00m |
| Kieffer Moore | £2.00m |
| George Thomason | £1.22m |
While Mac says he doesn't have any say in tactics, training, or any on-the-field matters, he says he and Reynolds are always available to talk to the players as they enjoy increasing fame.
The players not only play in the Championship, but many are now celebrities in their own right thanks to the 'Welcome to Wrexham' doc.
"Again, as you know, we speak to the players quite a bit but it’s never about tactics, football or anything like that," Mac added.
"They are young men who are living in the spotlight. We’re used to that, even though we are old men now. At one point we were their age so know what it’s like to live like that. Sometimes we can be helpful in that regard."
The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star insists he and Reynolds are aligned in their vision and know its important to sustain their position in the Championship before thinking of those Premier League dreams.
“I don’t see us falling out. We were just talking yesterday about the summer and next season. We text each other four times a day and talk once a week," Mac revealed.
"We figured out that over the six years (since joining forces to try and buy Wrexham), we have only disagreed once. Not like a huge disagreement. We listen to our advisers and the answers are pretty clear."
During the summer of 2025, Wrexham spent €37.8 million on players which was more than the likes of European giants like Barcelona, Aston Villa, Lazio, Celtic, Rangers, Monaco and Valencia.
