Ronaldo's personal chef reveals the diet that powers CR7's longevity and the one drink that's off limits
Cristiano Ronaldo's former personal chef has outlined the diet that allows the Portuguese superstar to continue to play football into his 40s.
CR7 has long received praise for his conditioning and professionalism when it comes to looking after his body and that involves rigorous exercise as well as a carefully scheduled diet.
All you need to do is look at his physique to see how seriously he takes this part of his career.
The old saying goes 'you can't out-train a bad diet' but Ronaldo doesn't have that issue as he combines healthy eating with his ferocious work in the gym and on the training pitch.
One drink is banned from his diet: milk.
"No milk... Humans are the only animals that drink the milk of other animals," Ronaldo's former chef Giorgio Barone told covers.com.
"No other animal drinks milk after three months. Calves do not drink milk after three months. Animals do not drink the milk of other animals."
Ronaldo adopts a high-protein, low fat diet that includes plenty of fish and avocado.
"To start breakfast, have avocado with coffee, eggs and no sugar," Barone continued.
"Absolutely no sugar. For lunch he usually eats chicken, fish and always vegetables. If you need carbohydrates, you get them from vegetables, so you don't need anything made with flour. No pasta, bread or other types of food. At night, eat light, usually fish or steak. Always accompanied by vegetables."
Barone says he has admiration for Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland's diet, too, which is known is some areas as an "ancenstral" or "beast" diet.
"I agree with Erling Haaland's diet, which consists of eating viscera," he adds.
"The liver, heart and brain are very healthy foods. They are superfoods. Cristiano also liked the liver. I love it. It is very rich in iron and is important in the diet, so I approve of the viscera, but not the milk."
Haaland previously revealed his quirky diet, which holds similarities to Hannibal Lecter in the Oscar-winning Silence of the Lambs movie, in the documentary ‘Haaland: The Big Decision’.
Showing off the liver and heart of a cow, he said: “Other people don’t eat this, but I am concerned with taking care of my body.
“I think eating quality food that is as local as possible is the most important. People say meat is bad for you but which? The meat you get at McDonald’s?
“Or the local cow eating grass right over there? I eat the heart and the liver.”
Ronaldo doesn't consume soft drinks and at a Euro 2020 press conference, he famously removed two bottles of Coca-Cola sat in front of him and replaced them with water.
"Agua!" he shouted at reporters.
Marca states that Ronaldo currently has 7% body fat.
