Christian Pulisic has been hailed as one of the United States' greatest ever players to make an impact in European soccer.

Currently plying his trade at Italian giants Milan, Pulisic previously played for another two massive clubs in Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

It appears he's finally found a home in Serie A as he has emerged as a key player for the Rossoneri.

On Sunday, he recorded a goal and an assist as Milan defeated defending champions Napoli 2-1 at San Siro to go top of the Serie A table.

Former USMNT star Tony Meola believes that Pulisic deserves to be recognised alongside Clint Dempsey as one of America's best soccer exports.

“He has said time and time again, ‘I want to show you I’m a good footballer. Not [just that] I’m a good American footballer, that I’m a good footballer,'" Meola explained on CBS Sports Golazo America.

"'Take the American tag off of me, look at me like everybody else.'

"And that’s what American players are trying to do but this guy has taken the torch.

“We talk about Clint Dempsey all the time and he was incredible in Europe. At some point we’re going to talk about Christian and his career and it’s going to be the top American player that’s gone over to Europe. I think he’s right there. Clint, I know that’s a different debate, but he’s right there with Clint.”

Milan send title message

Milan were disappointing last season and failed to qualify not only for the Champions League, but for any European competition.

Expectations weren't sky high heading into the new campaign, but they find themselves top of the league and Pulisic believes the victory against Napoli sends a message to the rest of the clubs in the Italian top flight.

“We feel incredible, honestly,” Pulisic also told CBS.

“Just the spirit of the team the way we fought. Also after the red card, we really gave everything and it’s a special feeling now for us.

"It sends a message for sure. That we’re a good team, we’re a strong team, you know we can score goals, but we can defend like this. And we have a good spirit and I think it shows a lot for sure.”
