Jonathan David has been one of the hottest free agents on the market this summer, but Fabrizio Romano reports that the Canadian forward has finally made up his mind about where he’ll play next season.

After a strong campaign with Lille in which he scored 25 goals — including a standout performance against Champions League winners Real Madrid — David drew interest from across Europe.

Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal were all rumored to be tracking him.

However, Juventus surged into the lead in recent weeks, and Romano says it’s the Italian giants who have landed the 25-year-old — just days after he became a free agent following the end of his contract with Lille.

Romano announced on X:

“Jonathan David to Juventus, here we go! Verbal agreement reached overnight on every detail with the Canadian striker.

“Long-term deal agreed and Jonathan David is set to travel for medical tests, with formal steps to follow.

“Contracts to be checked and signed soon.”

Is Juventus the right move for David?

Juventus is coming off a tough season where they struggled to score consistently. Its 1–0 loss to Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup on Tuesday highlighted the need for attacking reinforcements — and David could be exactly what they need to turn things around.

According to SciSports, a data analytics firm, Juventus has a **Club Fit score of 64** for David. That places them among his better options, though the platform notes that his long-term development potential in Serie A may be limited. Still, David is expected to get regular playing time and fit well with Juve’s tactical setup.

With their Club World Cup campaign now over, Juventus is clearly aiming to bolster the squad — and Jonathan David will be the first addition under Igor Tudor this summer following several loan deals being made permanent.
