Celtic prepare 'strong financial offer' for first summer signing
Celtic are reportedly preparing a “strong financial offer” for Brondby midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic as they look to beat FC Porto and Rangers to his signature this summer.
The Hoops clinched the 2025-26 Scottish Premiership title by one point after a final-day win over Hearts and they head into the upcoming summer transfer window desperate to sign a number of suitable reinforcements.
Loanees Tomas Cvancara, Junior Adamu, Joel Mvuka, Benjamin Arthur, Julian Araujo and potentially Marcelo Saracchi will all return to their parent clubs this summer, and Celtic are ready to dip into the market for new signings before the new campaign kicks off in August.
Arch-rivals Rangers have already completed the impressive acquisition of Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland, while they are also in talks to finalise a deal to bring Wrexham attacking midfielder Josh Windass back to the club, with the 32-year-old having worked with Danny Rohl during their time together at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Ibrox giants are also interested in signing Tahirovic, but Celtic are currently the frontrunners to sign him during the 2026 summer transfer window. That is according to Bosnian outlet SportSport, who claim that Celtic are preparing a “strong financial offer” as they look to beat significant competition to his signature.
Celtic lead race to sign Benjamin Tahirovic
Tahirovic, 23, has been linked with a Brondby exit for several months and the club could be open to a sale this summer after he started just 12 league matches last season after falling out of favour under previous boss Steve Cooper.
However, Brondby are ready to wait until after the 2026 World Cup to sanction a deal as they are aware that his valuation could increase dramatically if he performs well for Bosnia at the upcoming tournament.
Tahirovic, who has 22 senior caps for his nation, joined Brondby from Ajax for €2.8 million in February 2025, but his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €4.6m, despite his lack of game time over the past year.
He is one of several players on Celtic’s transfer radar ahead of this summer, including Scott McKenna, Kasper Hogh, Jari de Busser, Eric Martel, Aaron Malouda, Lorent Tolaj and Bim Pepple.
