Celtic identify Wilfried Nancy's first two January transfer targets
Celtic are reportedly eager to sign Cruz Azul midfielder Mateusz Bogusz and CFR Cluj striker Louis Munteanu during the upcoming January transfer window.
The Hoops are determined to back new boss Wilfried Nancy in the market and their recruitment team are expected to be busy over the next few weeks as they look to recover from several poor transactions over the summer.
Nancy is the first Celtic manager in history to lose all three of their opening games in charge, following defeats to Hearts, Roma and St Mirren, and the owners are aware they need to dip into their pockets in January in order to retain their Scottish Premiership title.
That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Bogusz and Munteanu have been earmarked as the club’s two priority targets for the winter window.
Both players have been linked with a move to Celtic Park in the past, with the former close to completing a transfer in 2024 and the latter in talks over a deal this summer.
The Scottish giants have now rekindled their interest in the duo and they are plotting a major double deal as they look to improve the first-team squad available to Nancy.
Celtic plot January double signing
Bogusz, who was previously on the books of Leeds United, has registered 10 goal contributions in 39 games since his arrival at Cruz Azul in January and it’s reported that he is valued at around €6.8 million.
Munteanu’s asking price, on the other hand, stood at roughly €23m this summer, but Cluj president Iuliu Muresan has confirmed that a far lower bid will be accepted in January.
“I hope Louis transfers to a club, we get some money and solve our problems,” Muresan recently told Digi Sport.
“Could Louis Munteanu leave for €6m? I say yes, but I hope it's €7-8m. But he should want to go there too, because the player is not a commodity.”
