Kylian Mbappe’s potential transfer to Real Madrid promises to have a heavy bearing on Manchester City, and two of Pep Guardiola’s players in particular.

Mbappe continues to be linked with a summer switch to the Bernabeu, with the France international having yet to sign a new deal with PSG, who had frozen him out for a period this summer after he refused to take up the option in his contract to extend to 2025.

Real Madrid are eager to land the 24-year-old on a free transfer when his present agreement at PSG ends, yet this could hinge on the future of one Man City star that Mbappe would love to be reunited with.

Indeed, according to Le10Sport, the Ligue 1 champions are ready to make a third approach for City midfielder Bernardo Silva, who the World Cup winner played alongside when he made his professional debut at Monaco.

It is reported by the French source that there is a release clause in Bernardo Silva’s contract that could be triggered by PSG. The Portugal international signed a new contract a matter of weeks ago, but it is stated that there is a €58 million clause that will allow him to depart in 2024.

As it is noted by the source, this is a “strong argument to make a certain Kylian Mbappe want to stay”.

Bernardo Silva has previously hinted that he is open to a transfer, having been heavily linked with Barcelona and PSG for over a year.

PSG target Haaland as Mbappe replacement

PSG, though, are also planning in the worst-case scenario that Mbappe leaves.

In this situation, OK Diaro reports that they would target a transfer for Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.

The Ligue 1 side are reportedly in contact with Rafaela Pimenta, the Norway international’s agent, and have him firmly in mind should Mbappe sign for Real Madrid.
