Raphinha was heavily linked with a Barcelona exit last summer, following an underwhelming first two seasons at the club, but he ultimately remained at Camp Nou, despite significant interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

The 28-year-old has since established himself as a pivotal player under new head coach Hansi Flick and he is one of the leading contenders to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or, alongside Barcelona team-mate Lamine Yamal and Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona have been eager to finalise an agreement with Raphinha for several months, amid rumours of a return to the Premier League, and they have now officially confirmed his new deal.

The Brazilian’s existing contract was due to expire in 2027, but Barcelona have extended this by a further 12 months following his immense form this campaign.

Raphinha’s new deal comes after a surprise position change this season. The emergence of the aforementioned Yamal as one of the world’s best right wingers has forced Raphinha to be deployed on the left flank this term, and this new role has resulted in the best form of his career.

Raphinha has helped Barcelona win La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup this season, while he contributed immensely en route to the Champions League semi-finals, where they were knocked out by Inter Milan.

Furthermore, the Brazil star’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) now stands at a career high of €77.1 million.
