Kylian Mbappe has been told to reject Real Madrid and sign a new contract with PSG to be the “king of his own village” by Samir Nasri.

Mbappe continues to be linked with a summer move to the Bernabeu when his contract at PSG is up in 2024, when he will become a free agent.

Madrid, who released a statement over the weekend indicating they are not in contract talks with Mbappe, may have lost their “obsession” for the PSG striker but the prospect of filling the No.9 role with the 24-year-old France star is still one that president Florentino Perez finds too tempting to resist – despite being turned down by the former Monaco attacker in 2022.

Nasri, a classy creative midfielder for Arsenal, Manchester City and France among others during his playing days, says Mbappe should stay where he is.

Speaking to Canal+, he said: “He is from the Paris region: it’s his home, I would stay at PSG instead of going to Madrid to win Real's 50th Champions League!

“If OM had been owned by Qatar when I was at the club I would never have left. I think it's better to be king in your village.”

Nasri added that it would be a huge blow to PSG if Mbappe were to depart.

“If he leaves it will create a hole, but with the budget PSG have, they will be able to recruit other players who will not be Mbappe, that's clear. But today he has such importance whether in the French team or with his club...” Nasri added.

“Two years ago, I already said that he was the best player in the world. I still think so.”

Mbappe transfer latest

Mbappe will be able to open contract talks with Real Madrid in January but reports suggest it could take until April for the superstar to make a decision over his future.

Liverpool have also been linked with a potential move for him, with reports in France last week indicating that Jurgen Klopp’s side still believe they have a chance of landing the player.

PSG, meanwhile, remain quietly optimistic that they will be able to persuade Mbappe to sign a new contract, just as Nasri has said he should.
